HELP FOR Burlington and Hamilton MIGRAINE
The anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties of cinnamon were put to the
test for migraine management. Migraine, the most common primary headache
type, has increased levels of inflammation. Compared to a control option,
cinnamon significantly reduced levels of inflammatory agents,
interleukin-6 and nitric oxide. Cinnamon also reduced
the frequency, severity and duration of migraine episodes.
Cinnamon helped migraine in this study! Plus,
cinnamon is a safe supplement. (1) Spinal Care Clinic happily presents
research-based safe options to try for health.
BLOOD PRESSURE
Blood pressure is a common health condition
for many Burlington and Hamilton folks. Cinnamon
supplementation favorably and significantly affected
diastolic blood pressure and significantly affected systolic blood pressure
when taken for at least 8 weeks. (2) Several studies
have reported that cinnamon reduced blood pressure. A recent
meta-analysis of 9 randomized clinical trials reported that cinnamon
supplementation can boost blood pressure by a modest degree
overall. Significant reductions in both diastolic
and systolic blood pressure lessened
when using 2 grams or more a day of cinnamon for at least eight
weeks. (3) That is news worth sharing with our
Burlington and Hamilton chiropractic patients.
DIABETES TYPE II
Spinal Care Clinic takes care of many patients
who also are diagnosed with diabetes type II. Diabetes
mellitus is a disease involving a variety of
different issues related to insulin resistance or low
production of it by the pancreas. This all brings
about lifelong damage to organs over a lifetime.
Management is complex. Herbs are frequently included in the
management. Cinnamon is mentioned as a
favorable choice for diabetic hypertensive patients. (4) A
survey of the use of complementary alternative medicine by diabetic patients revealed
that many use bitter apple, ginger, fenugreek, garlic and cinnamon. 66.1% used
cinnamon. (5) Spinal Care Clinic wants to know what our
chiropractic patients are using and if they find benefit.
