In the nutritional supplement world, chondroitin sulfate is recognized for its
benefit for cartilage and disc in Burlington and Hamilton back pain.
Its reputation continues to evolve in influence
on specific conditions from cancer to knee osteoarthritis
to cells and nerves. Recent research reveals positive effects on diabetes and its
related osteoporosis and inflammation. Spinal Care Clinic
reports on these new studies to assist our
Burlington and Hamilton chiropractic back pain as well as diabetic patients.
CHONDROITIN SULFATE: Diabetes and Inflammation
Chondroitin sulfate is powerful
for diabetes in addition to disc nutrition. It’s reported that it can
decrease blood glucose and relieve symptoms
related to diabetes. In new studies, it
relieved diabetic osteoporosis and repaired
the microstructure of bone via its anti-oxidative,
anti-inflammatory, and bone metabolism-regulating properties in
diabetic rats. The research studies keep coming! One
of the latest reports that these outcomes were
obtained after 10 weeks of taking chondroitin
sulfate, and serum inflammatory cytokines (TNF-A, IL-1, IL-6, MCP-1)
lowered. (1) Part of the chiropractic treatment plan at
Spinal Care Clinic is nutrition. Incorporating chondroitin
sulfate is showing benefit that Burlington and Hamilton chiropractic
patients may enjoy.
CHONDROITIN SULFATE: Diabetic Osteoporosis
In another study of oral chondroitin sulfate and
whether it has anti-diabetic features, chondroitin sulfate was
taken for 8 weeks. Preventive properties were
revealed. It improved the symptoms of
diabetes by raising body weight, reducing
water or food intake, decreasing blood glucose,
raising bone mineral density (BMD), repairing bone morphology
and reducing femoral osteoclasts. These benefits
prompted the researchers to write that chondroitin sulfate
could prevent diabetic osteoporosis through the decrease of blood glucose along with
antioxidative stress, anti-inflammation, and regulation of serum levels of
OPG/RANKL. In conclusion, they wrote that
chondroitin sulfate can effectively prevent bone loss
brought on by diabetes. (2) Spinal Care Clinic
presents this research as a hopeful option for our
Burlington and Hamilton chiropractic patients with osteoporosis.
