“Must I exercise?”
“Yes, you should if you want to feel
better quicker and prevent pain,“ your Burlington and Hamilton
chiropractic encourages.
“How much time do I have to spend exercising each day?”
“Not long, just effectively,” Spinal Care Clinic
suggests.
Exercise is not every Burlington and Hamilton back pain or neck
pain patient’s ‘cup of tea’. Spinal Care Clinic knows.
Exercise is also so key to our back and neck pain
patient’s recovery and future prevention of the pain. We are with our Burlington and Hamilton
chiropractic patients every step of the way to make
the most of the exercise effort so that it pays off in pain prevention
and relief.
OPTIMAL NECK PAIN EXERCISE GUIDES
Neck pain sufferers understand how pain
may decrease their ability to look around
comfortably. Such neck pain patients were tested for
their cervical range of motion and pain intensity with a flexion-rotation test.
They were then instructed to do a 20-minutes cervical spine
exercise session. Half of them were then additionally
treated with manual therapy applied to the C0-C1 and C2-C3 cervical spine
levels. Those who did the exercise program and received
manual therapy did significantly
better in terms of range of motion, pain intensity reduction,
and the flexion-rotation test. (1) Another study found
that the optimal stretching time of cervical muscles in patients with chronic
myofascial pain syndrome was 30 seconds as contrasted with 15
or 60 seconds or no stretching. This allowed the best
benefit to pain intensity reduction while diminishing
any negative effects on neural function of the affected
nerve roots and central nervous system. (2) Spinal Care Clinic always stresses
that the proper exercise done in the right
way doesn’t have to take long to be useful!
Additionally, exercise places some control in the
hands of its sufferer since exercise can be performed anytime.
OPTIMAL LOW BACK PAIN EXERCISE GUIDES
Integrating exercise training into the
multidisciplinary treatment of non-specific chronic low back pain does make
sense. This type of back pain affects so many
people worldwide and is a foremost
cause of disability. Proper exercise training transitions the back
pain sufferer to self-management. Recently, researchers posed
that pain intensity and disability - and even mental health struggles
in such back pain patients - were enhanced with choices
like resistance and aerobic exercise while Pilates, resistance exercise, yoga,
and stabilization exercise. (3) Spinal Care Clinic agrees! Exercise is invaluable
on so many fronts.
