Neck pain is a familiar
condition drawing patients to
our Burlington and Hamilton chiropractic clinic! Spinal Care Clinic sees
that chronic neck pain is a prevalent problem
today. Whether the neck pain is non-specific or chronic, Spinal Care Clinic
is here to help coordinate some neck pain relief with a Burlington and Hamilton chiropractic treatment
plan incorporating spinal manipulation and exercise.
EXERCISE OR MANUAL THERAPY…OR BOTH?
Neck pain treatment options are plentiful.
One common approach is manual therapy. (Spinal Care Clinic
uses gentle Cox® Technic spinal manipulation.) Another tactic
is exercise. A third is mixing the two. A recent
study compared manual therapy, exercise or placebo. Manual therapy alone
enhanced perceived neck pain more quickly than exercise.
Therapeutic exercise lessened disability earlier
than manual therapy. (1) A further research
project assessed manual therapy plus exercise to exercise
alone over 4 weeks. Manual therapy with
exercise improved short- and medium-term neck pain better than exercise alone. (2) Spinal Care Clinic has observed
that patient participation boosts clinical outcomes,
too. Combining the most effective therapies
for neck pain relief is the way to go.
COX® TECHNIC AND EXERCISE FOR NECK PAIN RELIEF
Spinal Care Clinic follows the research.
Research demonstrated that a safe, gentle form
of manual manipulation, Cox® Technic, dropped cervical spine
intradiscal pressures. (3) In
the clinical comparison study of Cox® flexion distraction only to
exercise alone for neck pain to the combination of both
that using both was advantageous.
(4) Cox® Technic flexion distraction for neck pain relief relieved
pain in a mean of 13.2 visits in a report on cervical spine
radiculopathy patients. (5) Spinal Care Clinic finds that
Burlington and Hamilton neck pain patients are ready to help
themselves by doing suggested neck exercises in addition to making their chiropractic treatment visits.
