SPINAL MANIPULATION IS EFFECTIVE AND COST REDUCING FOR SPINE CARE

Spinal Care Clinic welcomes all spine pain patients! We know the frustration that comes with spine pain. Burlington and Hamilton chiropractic spinal manipulation is beneficial for many. Though low back pain is a major source of disability around the world, its sufferers who have persistent or recurrent episodes of low back pain find chiropractic maintenance care beneficial as it is patient-centered care. (1) Neck pain sufferers, too, discover relief with chiropractic. Neck pain patients treated with spinal manipulation – 90% of which is delivered by chiropractors in the US – were found to be 2.38 times less likely to need higher level and more expensive care like imaging, injection, emergency room or surgery (just 26%) than patients who were treated with other type of care (46%). (2) A recent study of Medicare patient claims states that patients who had decreased access to chiropractic care had an uptick in visits (32.3 a year) to primary care physicians for spine pain and an increase in spine surgeries (5.5 a year) costing an extra $114,967 per 1000 Medicare beneficiaries and $391 million nationally. (3) Your Burlington and Hamilton chiropractor is well-experienced in delivering spinal manipulation.  Spinal manipulation is and has been recommended as first-line treatment for low back pain. Reviews of Medicare claims note that chiropractors are the majority of healthcare providers for spinal manipulation and that the general supply of spinal manipulation providers is falling. Spinal Care Clinic shares new research on the benefit of adequate B vitamin levels.

Burlington and Hamilton CHIROPRACTIC TIP OF THE MONTH:

Beneficial B Vitamins

The benefits of B vitamins is undeniable. B12 deficiency is often linked with dementia in patients 65 years old and over. It has also been found in young people who have normal B12 levels but their methylmalonic acid (MMA) level is high. Testing the MMA level may be considered in patients with symptoms that seem unconnected as in one patient with neuropathy, depression and stomach issues who tested a high level of MMA. (5) Biotin (B7) supplementation is demonstrating potential in the treatment of neuropathic pain and could reduce the necessary doses of analgesic drugs. (6) Riboflavin (B2) in foods and via supplements is known for its antioxidant, anti-cancer, and anti-inflammatory effects among others. A recent study found that B2 to be anti-itch. (7) Are your B levels good? Let’s talk at your next visit!
